Spring Seasonal Changes Into Your Home Décor

Spring Seasonal Changes Into Your Home Décor

Spring is the time for renewal, fresh starts, and vibrant energy. The days are getting longer and the flowers are beginning to bloom. After the cosy, muted tones of winter, it's the perfect opportunity to refresh your décor and breathe new life into your home. Here are Dara Maison’s top tips on how to introduce colours, textures and light so that your home reflects the beauty and liveliness of spring.

Cleanse and Declutter

Spring is synonymous with clearing out the old and bringing in the new. If you're looking to refresh your décor, begin by decluttering. A clean, minimalist space gives your home a fresh, revitalised look.

Storage Solutions | Invest in stylish storage baskets or boxes to help organise and hide items. By keeping things tidy and out of sight, your décor will shine without distractions.

Edit Your Décor | Go through your shelves and tables and remove any items that feel too heavy or wintery. This might be the perfect time to let go of any items that no longer serve you or feel outdated.

Choose Fresh, Seasonal Colours

Spring is the season where the many colours of nature come alive, so why not bring those colours inside? Pastels, soft greens, and bright floral shades are all excellent choices, and provide an exciting opportunity to inject new life into your home in keeping with your own personal style.

Accent Walls and Art | A feature wall can instantly add personality and uplift any room - paint an accent wall in a soft pastel or warm neutral that reflects the season. If you’re feeling adventurous, spring is a great time to try out a wallpaper in a botanical print or soft geometric pattern. If you would prefer to keep the walls neutral, add art work featuring florals, or landscapes, or bright abstract pieces by artists such as Arran Rahimian and Kristen Giorgi.

Decorative Items | Swapping out your bowls, vases, or ornaments in line with seasonal changes is an easy and fun way to refresh the style and feel of your space without needing to alter the backdrop of the room.  For spring, add a pop of colour with a red Bubble Vase, a Green Glass Spine Vase, or a Flared Glass Bowl.

Greenery and Flowers | Whether it's a potted houseplant such as a succulent or fern, or a fresh bouquet of tulips, daffodils or lilies, adding plants is one of the simplest ways to incorporate colour and life into your home. For long-lasting floral beauty opt for faux florals or dried flowers in a striking statement vase such as the Pleated Porcelin Vase.

Embrace Open Spaces

Winter was all about feeling cosy and warm, but spring is all about light and air, and you might find that by simply rearranging your furniture you create a more open plan space with a more relaxing and inviting feel.

Layout of the Room | Maintain sufficient space between pieces of furniture to enable people to move with ease.  Where possible, ensure furniture does not block the flow of natural light from windows to allow for as much light as possible to flow freely through your home.

Mirrors | Mirrors and furniture which incorporate reflective surfaces, such as the Kadiev Dining Chair, will amplify the light within your space.  If your home has limited natural light, consider placing mirrors strategically to really maximise the natural light within the room.

Transparent Furniture | Furniture made from glass or clear acrylic lets light pass through, creating the illusion of a larger, less crowded space. For example, a coffee table like the Burl Coffee Table or the Samantha Coffee Table, both featuring transparent acrylic, can enhance light flow and create a sense of openness.

Introduce Natural Accents

Natural materials are always in style, but during spring, they feel especially fitting. Incorporating stone, wood, rattan, and wicker into your décor can give your space an earthy, organic vibe that’s perfect for the season.

Furniture | Consider swapping heavy or dark furniture for lighter pieces, such as the Evelin Dining Chair in raw oak and rattan, or the Brooke Side Table in raw oak and travertine, to add texture and warmth whilst maintaining a light and fresh atmosphere.

Decorative Items | Small touches like the Cream Marble Teardrop Tray or the Bloom Bowl on a coffee table, or woven baskets on the floor can tie a room together while evoking a spring-inspired, nature-filled atmosphere.

Incorporate Light, Airy Fabrics

In winter we need heavy, cosy materials - thick blankets, woollen throws, and heavy drapes and rugs that add warmth and texture. As we enter spring, it’s time to swap those out for lighter, breezier fabrics. Linen, cotton, woven, and even sheer materials help bring a soft, relaxed atmosphere to your space.

Throws and Pillows | Swap out your wintery throws for lighter fabrics in pastel colours, florals, or subtle patterns. Brighten up your sofa or bed with pillows in shades like pale yellow, mint green, or soft lavender.

Curtains | Consider swapping out dark, heavy curtains for light, airy sheer drapes. This will not only let in more natural light but also make your space feel more open and inviting.

Rugs | Swap thick, heavy, dark coloured rugs for woven materials in neutral or pastel shades to reflect light and make the space feel larger and more open.

Switch Out Statement Lighting

Spring means more daylight, so adjust your lighting to match the season. Swap out dim or dark fixtures for something brighter or more playful.

Light Fixtures | Consider switching out heavy, opaque lampshades for ones with lighter fabrics or even glass. Statement pendant lights with floral or geometric patterns can brighten up any room while adding style.

Fairy Lights | To add a whimsical touch, string fairy lights across mantels, along windowsills, or across the headboard of your bed. The soft glow can make any room feel cosy and magical.

Refresh Your Senses With A Spring Scent

Nothing refreshes your space quite like scent. As you work on revamping your décor, incorporate fragrances that remind you of the season.

Candles and Diffusers | Opt for spring-inspired scents such as lavender, fresh citrus, or jasmine. Light a candle or use a diffuser to infuse your home with a subtle, fresh scent.

Don’t Overlook Outdoor Spaces

Finally, revitalising your home for spring is not just about bringing the outdoors in – it’s the time of year to start enjoying your outside areas, so think about how you can refresh your patio, balcony or garden area with spring-inspired furniture and décor to really make the most of it.

Outdoor Cushions | Brighten up your outdoor seating with cushions in cheerful colours or floral patterns. Add a soft throw blanket for those chillier evenings.

Planters and Pots | Add a few potted plants or flowers to your outdoor space, whether on a balcony, patio, or garden. They’ll complement your indoor greenery and create a seamless transition between the two spaces.

Outdoor lighting | From mains powered lights, to battery operated lights and solar- energy lights in the form of wall lights, stake lights and fairy lights, exterior lighting comes in a variety of different styles with something to suit every outdoor space and individual preference.  The right exterior lighting will help create a cosy, relaxing atmosphere perfect for enjoying the warmer evenings and taking in the beautiful sights of spring.

Bring In The Bloom

Refreshing your décor for spring is all about embracing light, colour, and vibrancy.  By swapping out heavy textiles for breathable fabrics, introducing fresh blooms and greenery, and simplifying your space, you'll create a home that reflects the beauty of the spring. With just a few simple updates, your home will feel lighter, brighter, and ready for the warmth and joy that this time of year brings. Go ahead, let your space bloom this season!
